Witness the Magic of Disney Live! Mickey's Musical Festival

I'm sure everyone loves Disney.  Seeing this poster made me reminisce.  Let me share with you how Disney has affected my life...

As toddlers, we used to wake up hearing the songs from "Disney Babies Wake Up CD Album".  Growing up, we loved watching Mickey and Friends on TV as shown by all the Disney stuffs we had from bed covers to stuff toys.

We also have a Disney Movie Classic Collection Laser discs which some you might be unfamiliar to you since they are already obsolete.  We all had our own favorite Disney Movies.  My favorite Disney movie was Aladdin.  I used to sing the song "A Whole New World" over and over.

We were so excited and happy when my Dad brought us for the first time to a real cinema in SM Mega Mall.  It was for Disney's "Beauty and the Beast".  I was so enchanted by the part where Mrs. Potts sings "Tale as Old as Time" and the Belle and Beast danced beautifully in the ballroom floor.  "Beauty and the Beast" became my little sisters favorite.  Until now, she still has her toy collection.  She believes Disney is timeless.  We all agree.  We still watch the latest Disney movies together as a family.  The last movie we watched was the "Alice in Wonderland in 3D".

One of our family tradition when I was a child was to watch "Disney on Ice".  We watch it consecutively with all my aunts, uncles and cousins.  During the show, we always bought glowing toys and snow cones in Disney mugs.   The show is always different and amazing.  I can still picture the characters, colored lights, songs and dances and smokes and effects from the shows we watched.

Disney has left me so many magical memories.  I don't think my life would ever be the same without it.

Each of us, in one way or another has thought of going abroad to earn for our loved ones. But, the truth is only a few of us has the courage to leave our families. Being away for our loved ones is a great sacrifice. Thus, those who are capable are worthy of being heroes.

Currently, the Philippines is ranked 4th globally with the most migrant workers with 11% of its population working overseas.   With that in mind, the Commission on Filipinos Overseas, Duty Free Philippines, Good News Pilipinas, Kraft Asia and Toblerone would like to give all OFW's their well deserved recognition. 


So nominate, share and vote for the stories of your friend, relative or simply a loved one who's working abroad that you admire.  The top 10 most amazing stories will be awarded in January 2012.

NBA FIT Philippines 2nd Edition July 25 to August 7, 2011

Good news to all basketball fans out there!  In case you missed out NBA Fit last year like we did, its back again for another year.  

I guess we're all familiar with NBA, but what is NBA FIT? 

NBA FIT is the league's global comprehensive health and wellness program that encourages physical activity and healthy living for children and families through programs and events.  

This years NBA FIT Philippines will be two-week program fully endorsed by the Philippines Department of Health (DOH).  Their aim is to educate individuals and families on the physical, mental and emotional benefits of healthy living, as well as motivating and inspiring kids and adults to live healthier lives through a variety of events and activities.

It will include:

• NBA FIT Clinics - FREE sessions for students and the general public to be held at various schools and malls
• NBA FIT Development Camp - Miami Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra and Assistant Coach Dave Fizdale will lead a special NBA-style basketball camp for elite athletes of the Energen Philippine Under-16 National Team 
• Celebrity NBA FIT Challenge - 16 celebrities will take the challenge
• NBA FIT Fun Run presented by Air21 - co-organized by the NBA and RunRio to be held at August 7, 2011 at the Fort Bonifacio Global City

Multiply.com's Evolution : The Jump from Social Networking to a Digital Shopping Mall

Multiply has been making a comeback, but not as an social network sharing site but as the Philippines biggest digital shopping mall.

Multiply was one of the pioneer social networking sites where users can share photos, videos, and personal updates. But that changed when  Filipino entrepreneurs thought of utilizing the photo albums as product sales catalogs. Now, Multiply has grown to over 88,000 online shops, letting users browse through almost every kind of product in the comfort of home.

During the Multiply Event hosted by the lovely Ms. Lia Cruz, we were oriented about the new Multiply.com .  Who could introduce it better than Multiply.com's own Country Manager Mr. Jack Madrid and Senior Marketing Manager Mr. Paulo del Puerto.

Country Manager Mr. Jack Madrid began with the history of Multiply.com from what is originally was until what it has now become.  "Multiply's original purpose was to be a social networking site but some thought of using it's best feature the Photo Album Sharing in a different way.  After finally giving in to what the people wanted, multiply finally became a Digital Shopping mall", said Country Manager Jack Madrid.

On behalf of Multiply.com, Jack Madrid extended his thanks to everyone by saying: "without the Philippines we would not be where we are today and without listening to you we couldn't have become successful".

Successful Multiply-neurs

Is Multiply.com really that great of a online shopping mall? To answer this question, Ms. Lia Cruz interviewed a few Successful Multiply-neurs namely Alwin Aguirre of Tough Brat Bags, Suyen Rivera Lopez of House of Flair and lastly Jonie Cheng of Mamaway.

Alwin Aguirre the creator of Tough Brat Bags offers stylish and customized laptop bags for both men and women "It was surprising to tap this market but I'm glad I listened to my instinct" Alwin said. Launched in October 2008, Tough Brat Bags is now a well known brand and it all started on multiply.com.

Suyen Rivera Lopez of House of Flair decided on doing a different approach. Instead of mostly having on-hand goods she decided on selling pre-order ones. "I thought of making everyone shop in the U.S", she claimed.  With that in mind, she was able to make The House of flair grow through viral-networking and word of mouth.

On the other hand, Jonie Cheng of Mamaway came up with her business idea  because of her sister's refusal to go back to work and insistence in continuing to breastfeed her baby. Jonie shares, "This store came from a need from my sister, Jaydee was due to go to work 3 months after giving birth but she still insisted in continuing to breastfeed her baby".  They researched on where to get decent nursing wear since they were not locally available.   Now, they are the exclusive distributor of the Mamaway brand here in the Philippines.

Though they all had different inspirations in pursuing their entrepreneurial instinct they all used the same medium in selling their products and that was through Multiply.com. So why did they choose Multiply.com? They answered that "It's Free, Its easy to use and It's really one of the best ways to showcase your items."

After gaining all the motivational insights to start a business, the event came to an end.  What better way to end it than with free food and freebies.

Our Runner's World Philippines Running Clinic July 2011 Part 1 Experience

I previously mentioned about Runner's World Philippines Running Clinic July 2011. (see separate entry)  Despite having a bad cold, I couldn't pass up this chance.  We woke up early to attend the Runner's World Running Clinic part 1 at MOA.

After the 1 KM warm-up run around MOA by the bay, we returned to the venue.  There was one tent for the registration and another for the Gatorade station.  We were each given a bottle of Gatorade.  We were given a choice whether it was "Bolt Blue" or the red one.  Most of us chose the "Bolt Blue".
When we arrived, the runners were already getting ready for the warm-up run.  Since it was raining, there were only few participants who joined the activity.

Our coach for the day was Coach Nina from David's Salon who is a sky runner.  She runs up mountains with 100 KM distance.

After our Gatorade break for 5 minutes, we begun our stretching exercises.  Since we were few, Coach Nina really paid attention on how we do the exercises.  We were corrected accordingly.  I felt all my muscles stretch from leg up to my back and shoulders.
It rained really hard so I had to bail out while Kurt and the others sprinted in the rain.  It looked fun but I couldn't risk getting another flu especially its my law midterms week.

There was another Gatorade break which was simultaneous with our lecture.  We were briefed about Gatorade.   We also discovered the difference between an energy drink and a sports drink.  Sports drinks include mind enhancements so they contain caffeine.  A lot of other topics were also discussed like types of feet and running shoes.


As soon as the rain stopped, we were given mats to be laid down the floor.  We then proceeded to the core exercises.  Most of the exercises target the abs.

After the core exercises, the class was dismissed.  We were given a FREE copy of runner's world magazine and a Gatorade ID lace.  Early birds were rewarded their 150 php David's Salon Gift Certificate.

Overall, the event was successful and fun.  I'm so glad that Runner's World and Gatorade organized this event.  It's better to have actual instructors or trainers in doing the exercises so you know if you're doing them right.  It's difficult if you just watch it in the video or read it in magazines.
It's not to late to join.  Check the dates and venues from my previous post and try it!  We'll be back on July 23 ,2011 for the part 2 at MOA.  See you there!
