The
La Salle Centennial Celebration is a whole day affair(see
separate entry) As early as 1 p.m. and as far as Quirino, Taft avenue was already traffic because of all those who wish to participate in the celebration.
As we park our cars, we can already see from afar many Lasallians wearing their green shirts. We had to enter through the South gate because we had to accompany our
BLUE sister who wants to see how Lasallians party.

Band playing at Yuchengco Stairs |
It was already 10 p.m. so many were going out already. Yet, as we reached the amphitheater, it was so crowded that it was difficult to roam around. There were tents and chairs. Everyone was all standing at the steps. As I looked up, I could see that there were many watching from the 2nd and 3rd floor of the La Salle main building as well. I couldn't see the band up close. I could only see colored lights, feel the loud thumping beat of the music and hear the loud and wild cheer from the crowd as famous Filipino songs were being played by Jett Pangan.

There were also chinese lanterns being lit on top of the SPS building one at a one. It reminded me of our lifting lantern experience during
nuffamily day. (see

Yuchengco Lobby Shirt Booth |
I tried to roam around. I went to the Yuchengo lobby and there were still a food stalls open. The booth selling centennial merchandise was packed with shoppers. The shirt ranged from 180 php to 250 php. The sizes were already incomplete because they ran out of stock.

The Central Plaza was not as crowded. There is a large screen in the middle of it. There was a photo booth and displays too. As I walked towards SJ walk, there were tables set up as booths too.

At around 10:30 p.m., the band stopped playing for the fireworks. It came from the SPS building. Unfortunately, I couldn't see much because of the crowd and the trees blocking. How I wish they didn't demolish the football field. We could've appreciated the fireworks more if only it wasn't so cramp. Don't you think so? I even miss the football field when I pass by the Vito Cruz area when I take the LRT. =(
After the fireworks, the Alma Mater Hymm was sung by Gary Valenciano. Everyone held their fist high with pride as we sang along. During that moment, I understood. People did not flock in just to join the party, everyone was there because they were all proud to be a Lasallian and they want to be part of its Centennial Celebration whether it be grand or not. After that an explosion of confetti came flying from the amphitheater and the band music resumed. It was a long they for us so we had to head home. Although the party was over, the animo spirit is within us forever.
