Gadget Review: Urbanears Headphones

A new brand of cool new colorful and hip line of headphones called "Urbanears" have arrived in the Philippines.  The Urbanear Company is based on Stockholm, Sweden. Their goal is to make classic looking headphones yet unique in a special way, gives out great sounds yet affordable to the everyday person. Since most of us have cellphones they gave each  headphone a mic and a remote now isn't that something most of us prefer :)

During the blogger's event at Digital Walker Cafe (see separate entry), we were given the opportunity to try out Urbanear Headphones/Earphones. Urbanears new product line includes Tanto, Plattan, Bagis and the Medis.

I'll let's start off with the TANTO (SRP Php 1,950)

The unique feature of the Tanto its lightweight.  Despite that, it still delivers great sound.  Now, who wouldn't want a headphone that you could bring anywhere right?

The Tanto is constructed for maximum mobility without the compromise of performance, adorned with a sleek and minimalistic look. If you want the full sound experience in a lightweight and portable headphone made for everyday use to be taken along wherever you go, then this is for you.

PLATTAN (SRP Php 2,950)

If you're one of the few like me who prefer not to hear the outside world, then the Plattan is the headphone for you with its big 40mm drive you'll be able to create your own music world.

The Plattan to be the perfect classic headphone, utilizing inno vative functions and performance with today’s technology. It is a full size headphone allowing for rich, secluded sound. You can fold it down to the size of your fist for maximum mobility. Plattan also comes with a “zound plug” on the earcap, allowing for a friend to plug in and enjoy your music.

BAGIS (SRP Php 1,200)

Have you ever been irritated because your earphone got tangled up in your pocket? Well, the unique feature of the Bagis  is its snap construction.  When you're not using it, you can just connect it to form a necklace around your neck.

The Bagis is a compact version of the full Urbanears experience. It’s an earplug construction for a direct sound and efficient noise reduction. It features rubber housing along with a combined fabric and TPE cord to eliminate distortions caused by friction.

Last but not the least, there the MEDIS (SRP Php 2,450).

Everyone had their earphones fall out of place in someway or another.  Finally, somebody has thought of ending our irritation and invented the Medis with its guaranteed perfect fit feature.

Medis is an unprecedented experience in ergonomics and functionality. The patented EarClick solution secures the earpiece at two separate points rather than one, relieving pressure to a nearly non-existent level while keeping it firmly in place. Additionally, the Medis rests a small distance from your ear canal and therefore doesn’t affect your balance. Naturally, the Medis features a dynamic sound and the sleek and minimal design that is synonymous with Urbanears.

So which Urbanear is for you?  Is it TantoPlattanBagis or the Medis

The great thing about Urbanears is its 1 year replacement warranty so if its proven that your headphone has a manufacturers defect they'll be willing to replace it on the spot.

As of now there are 14 available colors.  I suggest you buy your favorite colors as soon as you can because Urbanear tends to change them every now and then.  So, what colors are your Urbanears?
With Urbanears, you get what you pay for.  So if you're looking for an affordable, hip looking, great sounding headphone that comes with a mic and remote then maybe one of these is what you need.
