Samsung Chromebook from Google I/O here is a polished look at what’s in store coming June 15 when the Series 5 is available to the general public. Judging by this, it appears that Samsung will have greatly improved the Chrome OS hardware experience from the Cr-48 test device that was sent out by Google almost six months ago. What is meant by Samsung Chromebook?
What is Chrome OS?
Chrome OS is basically Google's Chrome browser sitting on top of a Linux kernel with a few tweaks to improve system performance and integrate with peripheral hardware such as external monitors and keyboards. Chrome OS also has a limited file manager so you can access cached data and files contained on storage devices such as USB sticks and SD cards

Essentially, buying a Samsung Chromebook is like buying a television that is only capable of delivering some of the channels, even though there are televisions available for the same price that can give you all of the channels. The Chromebooks are going to retail from $350 to $500. Funny thing about that--at BestBuy.com there are 15 netbooks listed that range from $230 to $530. Now, if the Price Samsung Chromebook was $100, or even $200, it might be easier to make a case for the value it provides.
