First Nivea Men Challenge at 360 Fitness Club

Nivea wanted to showcase their new Multi-Effect 8 by inviting a few bloggers to the first Nivea Men challenge.  It was my first time to visit 360 Fitness Club.  It was not the traditional gym I have seen and visited.   There were no weights and exercise machines.  

The challenge was 1 course with 8 routine exercises.  Each routine is allotted one minute.  Most of the routines were very innovative and unique like using a sledge hammer to hit a tire or rotating a ball.  The only exercise I was familiar with was the plain push ups.  They looked and sounded simple but they are tough because they actually required the usage  of all body muscles.  After the challenge was complete, we realized that the exercises formed an effective body workout.  So if you're bored with the plain set-up or the traditional gym, I dare you to try 360 Fitness Club.

Explaining the routine

Our Earth Run 2011 BGC Experience

A few weeks ago, we attended the bloggers night at Chris Sports (see separate entry) and we were given complimentary race kits to Earth Run 2011.

Kurt belonged to the 5k category while I belonged in the 3k category.  It was a dark and cloudy day so we were expecting that it would rain but it only drizzled for a short while during the race.  The pavement was a bit wet but we didn't mind.  It was so much fun!  The temperature was just right for running.

 

There were adequate way points and signs.  There were also sufficient water stations.  I also noticed several ambulances stationed along the way.  However, I was wondering why other transportation were able to enter the running track and runners were not informed to give way to them.

I was out of shape since I was so busy with school that I had stopped training.  Kurt finished slightly ahead of me.  Kurt saw his high school classmate during the run.  We also saw my cousin.

After the race, there was a Pocari Sweat tent distributing cold Pocari Sweat.  I've actually learned to love the taste of Pocari Sweat.  Its sweet and refreshing after runs.=)  There was also a Maynilad water truck that showered passing runners who want to cool off.

We went to claim our baggage and our finishers kit.  There was a long line for the claiming of the 3K giveaway kit.  The line took some time before it moved too so it was blocking the entrance towards the tent areas.  The giveaway kit's contents depends on the race category.  For example, I had the baller while Kurt had a Ceres Green apple juice.  There were FREE fans given away by Deloitte.  There were also Cherifer Premium samples being handed out.  The organizers were very generous with raffle prizes.  Among the prizes were Ideal Vision optical glasses, Phil Care "We Care" and "Yes" cards and Solomon gift certificates.  The winners are so lucky.

On the downside, the tent area is too far from the starting point or finishing line.  The area was also too small that it could not cater all the runners.

Kudos to the guy who honestly returned someone's fat wallet.  I seem to have forgotten his name which he mentioned when he was called on-stage.=(


Overall, it was a good and organized run.  However, I think the post-race organization could still be improved.   I would also like to commend the immediate release of the results.=)


I really love to run.=)  Its now my favorite sport.

My Slimmers World Diamond Peel Experience

(see separate entry)  Last month, my little sister and I used it to try the diamond peel at Slimmers World Face and Skin Clinic Adriatico.  It was our first time to try Diamond Peel.  Although my face is not flawless and may have some occasional acne and pimples, I try not to make my face dependent on facial treatments.  


I was taken to a small room with a single bed.  I was asked to lie down and then the staff proceeded by cleaning my face first with a towel.

NBA FIT Philippines 2nd Edition July 25 to August 7, 2011

Good news to all basketball fans out there!  In case you missed out NBA Fit last year like we did, its back again for another year.  

I guess we're all familiar with NBA, but what is NBA FIT? 

NBA FIT is the league's global comprehensive health and wellness program that encourages physical activity and healthy living for children and families through programs and events.  

This years NBA FIT Philippines will be two-week program fully endorsed by the Philippines Department of Health (DOH).  Their aim is to educate individuals and families on the physical, mental and emotional benefits of healthy living, as well as motivating and inspiring kids and adults to live healthier lives through a variety of events and activities.

It will include:

• NBA FIT Clinics - FREE sessions for students and the general public to be held at various schools and malls
• NBA FIT Development Camp - Miami Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra and Assistant Coach Dave Fizdale will lead a special NBA-style basketball camp for elite athletes of the Energen Philippine Under-16 National Team 
• Celebrity NBA FIT Challenge - 16 celebrities will take the challenge

Walk-in Aerobics Sessions at CCP Complex

We had the chance to pass by three aerobics group sessions.  Unlike gyms and dance schools which require memberships, here you can simply walk-in and pay a small fee to the instructors.  Payment schemes seems to be on honesty basis.

The first one is a bit hidden.  Beside Jollibee near CCP, you have to walk towards the "bangketas" (stalls).  Deep inside you can see there is a small stage with an instructor.  They are there every Sundays around 5:00 a.m.  The fee here is 20 php.

The next group is found in a parking lot.  They have a DJ and loud speakers.  They have more instructors around 4 or 5 line up in the front.  Notice here that both instructors and the followers are all faced in the face direction.  They are here everyday.  (Sorry we were not able to ask how much is the fee)

Finally, the last and the most visible group.  You can see this group because they are located along Roxas Boulevard.  There is a single instructor and loud sounds.  You can even see foreigners participating here.  They are there every Sundays around 5:00 a.m.  The fee here is 30 php.

Our Runner's World Philippines Running Clinic July 2011 Part 1 Experience

I previously mentioned about Runner's World Philippines Running Clinic July 2011. (see separate entry)  Despite having a bad cold, I couldn't pass up this chance.  We woke up early to attend the Runner's World Running Clinic part 1 at MOA.

After the 1 KM warm-up run around MOA by the bay, we returned to the venue.  There was one tent for the registration and another for the Gatorade station.  We were each given a bottle of Gatorade.  We were given a choice whether it was "Bolt Blue" or the red one.  Most of us chose the "Bolt Blue".
When we arrived, the runners were already getting ready for the warm-up run.  Since it was raining, there were only few participants who joined the activity.

Our coach for the day was Coach Nina from David's Salon who is a sky runner.  She runs up mountains with 100 KM distance.

After our Gatorade break for 5 minutes, we begun our stretching exercises.  Since we were few, Coach Nina really paid attention on how we do the exercises.  We were corrected accordingly.  I felt all my muscles stretch from leg up to my back and shoulders.
It rained really hard so I had to bail out while Kurt and the others sprinted in the rain.  It looked fun but I couldn't risk getting another flu especially its my law midterms week.

There was another Gatorade break which was simultaneous with our lecture.  We were briefed about Gatorade.   We also discovered the difference between an energy drink and a sports drink.  Sports drinks include mind enhancements so they contain caffeine.  A lot of other topics were also discussed like types of feet and running shoes.


As soon as the rain stopped, we were given mats to be laid down the floor.  We then proceeded to the core exercises.  Most of the exercises target the abs.

After the core exercises, the class was dismissed.  We were given a FREE copy of runner's world magazine and a Gatorade ID lace.  Early birds were rewarded their 150 php David's Salon Gift Certificate.

Overall, the event was successful and fun.  I'm so glad that Runner's World and Gatorade organized this event.  It's better to have actual instructors or trainers in doing the exercises so you know if you're doing them right.  It's difficult if you just watch it in the video or read it in magazines.
